Meet Ayelet Haran
My name is Ayelet Haran, and I’m proud to call Montclair home. I moved here in 2020 and have loved becoming part of this vibrant, engaged community. My two young sons attend Montclair Public Schools, giving me a firsthand understanding of the experiences, priorities, and hopes of Montclair families.
I grew up in Israel attending public school, and that experience shaped my deep belief in the importance of a strong, high-quality public education. Every child deserves access to schools where they can learn, grow, and thrive—and every family deserves confidence in the system serving them.
I bring nearly two decades of professional experience in the private sector, along with a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Columbia University. My work has given me a strong foundation in policy, problem-solving, strategic thinking, and organizational leadership. I know how to ask difficult questions, navigate complex challenges, work collaboratively, and turn ideas into effective action.
As a parent volunteer at both of my children’s schools, I’ve also had the opportunity to see firsthand the dedication of our educators and the important role families play in building strong school communities.
Beyond the schools, I serve as Board President of Montclair Community Farms, an urban farming organization dedicated to bringing sustainable, locally grown produce to underserved communities. I’m also an avid home gardener and passionate about sustainability and creating a stronger, more connected Montclair.
Why I’m Running
I’m running for the Board of Education because I believe Montclair’s public schools deserve thoughtful, responsible, and effective leadership.
At a time when our district faces significant challenges, we need a Board that is willing to listen, ask hard questions, communicate openly, and make sound decisions in the best interests of our students and community.
I want to help build strong schools, support and empower our educators, steward taxpayer resources responsibly, strengthen communication with families, and ensure that every Montclair student has the opportunity to thrive.
I’m running because I believe in our schools, I believe in our community, and I believe we can build an even stronger future for Montclair students—together.
